Sports Season Is Here!
If you've ever watched a youth sports practice, you've probably seen it.
The car door opens, a kid grabs their gear, jogs onto the field… and immediately starts sprinting, cutting, jumping, or throwing without much of a warm-up.
To be fair, adults aren't much different. Whether it's weekend golf, pickleball, CrossFit, running, or recreational leagues, many of us jump right into activity after sitting most of the day — the same pattern we talk about in Pickleball, Golf, and Back Pain?
Then a few weeks into the season, the aches begin.
A sore shoulder after baseball practice.
Tight hips after soccer.
Low back pain after golf.
A knee that's "just been bothering me."
The truth is, many sports injuries don't happen because your body is weak — they happen because your body wasn't prepared for the demands you placed on it.
A healthy, mobile body is far more resilient than one that's stiff, tired, or compensating. 👇
⚽ Prepare your body before you play:
Five-Minute Dynamic Warm-Up
Before practice or a workout, perform arm circles, leg swings, walking lunges, and light jogging for five minutes.
Why it works: Dynamic movements increase blood flow, improve joint mobility, and prepare your muscles for the movements they're about to perform.
Single-Leg Balance Challenge
Stand on one leg for 30 seconds. To make it harder, close your eyes or gently move the opposite leg. Repeat on both sides.
Why it works: Balance is one of the simplest ways to challenge the communication between your brain and body. Better balance often translates to better coordination and fewer injuries.
Hip Mobility Reset
Step into a lunge position and gently rotate your torso toward your front leg. Perform 8-10 slow repetitions per side.
Why it works: Mobile hips reduce unnecessary stress on the knees and lower back while improving athletic performance. For more simple daily resets like this, check out Want to Recover Smarter?
How Chiropractic Can Help!
At Avant Chiropractic, we don't just think about pain — we think about performance.
Your nervous system controls balance, reaction time, coordination, muscle activation, and recovery. When your spine moves well and your nervous system is functioning efficiently, your body is better equipped to perform the way it's designed to.
That's why many athletes choose chiropractic care as part of their training — not because they're injured, but because they want to stay healthy, recover faster, and perform at a higher level throughout the season.
Whether your athlete is playing football, volleyball, soccer, cross country, cheer, or marching band, taking care of their body now can make all the difference later in the season.
📅 If you'd like to help your athlete move better, recover faster, and stay in the game this fall, we'd love to be part of their healthcare team. Schedule a visit today and let's help them have their healthiest season yet.
Have a great season!
