Spring Clean Your Posture

You know that feeling when you finally open the windows, let fresh air in, and start clearing out the clutter that’s been building up all winter?

Closets get organized, garages get cleaned, and everything starts to feel lighter… but there’s one thing most people forget to “spring clean”... their posture.

Think about the last few months. More time on the couch, more scrolling on your phone, more sitting at a desk or kitchen table, shoulders rounded forward, head drifting down. It happens slowly, and before you know it, your body just adapts to that position.

Then spring hits, you start moving more, getting outside, doing projects… and suddenly your neck feels tight, your shoulders ache, and your low back starts talking to you again.

That’s not a coincidence - it’s your body asking for a reset.

The good news is, just like cleaning your home, small consistent changes can make a big difference.

Posture refresh you can do today:

  • Wall posture check: Stand with your head, shoulders, and hips against a wall for 45 seconds. This helps you feel what “neutral” posture for you actually is - most people are surprised how different it feels from their normal stance. Use this as a quick reset throughout the day.

  • Wall angels: With your back against the wall, bring your arms up like a goalpost and slowly slide them down and back up. Aim for 8-10 controlled reps. This helps open up the chest, activate the upper back, and reverse that rounded-forward posture.

  • Position changes throughout the day: Instead of staying in one position for hours, aim to change it every 30-45 minutes. Go from sitting to standing, move from your desk to the table, the couch, or a different chair. Your body thrives on variety, not perfection.

Posture isn’t about sitting perfectly all day - it’s about moving often, staying aware, and giving your body the variety it needs to feel good.

And if you’re ready to take that reset a step further, getting adjusted can make a big difference.

Chiropractic care helps improve your extensor muscle tone - the muscles that keep you upright and supported - which directly improves your posture and allows your body to reset more effectively.

If you’re feeling tight, off, or stuck in those winter patterns, come in, get adjusted, and let’s help your body move and feel the way it’s supposed to.

Here’s to a healthier week ahead.
